John Danahy is a professional Landscape Architect and Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture. He is Co-director of the Centre for Landscape Research (CLR), and a member of the Knowledge Media Design Institute at the University of Toronto. He has taught in landscape architecture, urban design, planning, architecture, and knowledge media design. He leads the development of research software systems for decision making in urban design at the Centre for Landscape Research (CLR).
Since joining the faculty in 1981, he has concentrated his creative professional practice work through the CLR on a wide range of projects with consulting firms, agencies, cities and citizens groups. This work in practice includes urban design that applies the basic research technologies invented at CLR for the National Capital Commission in Ottawa-Gatineau, the City of Ottawa, the City of Toronto, the Friends of Fort York, numerous university research labs and most recently for the Lakeview Ratepayers community in visioning the Lakeview Legacy Project. The Lakeview Legacy Project has won national urban design awards from the Canadian Association of Landscape Architects and the Design Exchange.
